Sports

Le Grand-Bornand offers you an exceptional sports playground!

Alpine skiing: top to bottom!
With 84km Alpine ski slopes including 16 green, 13 blue, 14 red and 3 black pistes, Le Grand-Bornand has everything it needs to treat anyone who likes chilled-out skiing or adrenalin win- ter sports. One of the hotspots is the famous 3km long “Dénivel’Maxx” with a 1100m elevation that runs non-stop from the top of Le Lachat to Grand-Bornand Village. A skier’s dream that switches between gliding along with a view and twisting between trees and old chalets past the final and spectacular red Envers turn... unless you’d prefer to get those thighs burning with four black slopes in a row (Sonnerie, Pylônes, Freeride and Lachat)!

Cros-country skiing, Nordic (L)Attitude
The Nordic style is now a real way of life, making its mark all the way into the hidden valleys of Le Grand-Bornand. Le Grand-Bornand is one of the top French ski resorts and also stands out for its 68 km of Nordic skiing slopes, where visitors can combine physical performance, the pleasure of going beyond their limits and contemplation, while enjoying the «frozen north» atmospheres in the wide open spaces of the Bouchet valley, with the Aravis mountain range above... unless they prefer the sunny slopes of Le Grand-Bornand Chinaillon.

Biathlon planet in Annecy-le Grand-Bornand
Annecy-Le Grand-Bornand is the French stage for the IBU Biathlon World Cup having previously hosted two rounds in December 2013 and 2017 which attracted up to 50,000 to the international Sylvie Becaert stadium’s stands in the very heart of Le Grand-Bornand and will again host the ultimate international biathlon event in December 2019. This is a dream opportunity to see Martin Fourcade work his magic along with the talented French team on home turf.

Walks and hikes
For you long walks through forests, pastures and hamlets along 150 km of marked trails in summer and 60 km in winter. In any season, listen to an intense pastoral life punctuated by the making of the famous Reblochon and discover the riches of local architecture. In summer, admire the flora and fauna: chamois, ibex, marmots and other vultures, the largest raptor in Europe. Finally do not hesitate to savor the blueberry or wild blackberry at a bend.

Ice rink
Open only in winter, the 800 m2 indoor ice rink offers a moment of sport and relaxation in a privileged setting, facing the village and the Aravis range. Many activities await you: ice garden for children, DJ party, human bowling, ...
Swimming pool
In the heart of the village and the recreation area, enjoy this exceptional nautical space with: swimming pool, fun pool with fountain, bubble bench, swim against the current, slide, paddling pool, aquabike, water aerobics, snack bar with terrace, many green spaces.
Put pedal to the...petal!
Le Grand-Bornand is a major stop on the Route des Grandes Alpes, a prestigious bike tourism route that goes from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean Sea, via the most beautiful Alpine passes. On this subject, the Col de la Colombière is still a Tour de France classic to ascend on an electric bike (if you want) to seamlessly follow in the tyre tracks of the great cycling champions as the resort has already been a stage in the Tour de France seven times. Crazy about mountain biking, traditional or electric, will take a lot of fun on the 8 routes and 92.6 km of marked trails.
Le Gran-Bornand holds the "Accueil Vélo" (Bike-Friendly) certificate.
